1993 Dodge Dakota Tuff TruckJason Farda's race truck for the year is a 1993 Dodge Dakota 5-spd. There is a lot of work to do on the truck as far as engine rebuilding and welding, but it's in the garage now and ready for a transformation with the help of a parts truck.
Update 8/9/11 Farda may have bit off more than he can chew with this one. Recently he suffered a tough blow when the salvage yard scrapped his parts truck. Farda's love for Dakotas is being overwhelmed and selling or scrapping the truck seems more likely. The truck has a good motor and trans but finding a truck that runs may be an easier rout. We'll see what happens in coming weeks. |
NJUSBF Soapbox ProjectIn November, we decided to try something new after an idea that came up over pizza in New Jersey with Billy from Broken Motorsports. He was talking about a time a few years back when he used to race underground soapbox derby in Hoboken. He mentioned something about shopping carts... steep hills... open roads... flying past cars at 50mph in a shipping dolly. All that hype had Joe pumped to try something. It sounded pretty cool, so Joe and I thought we could develop something pretty simpily out of old parts we had back at home. The breakdown of what we found was:
1. 16hp Craftsman Riding Lawnmower - Parts to be used: - Frame of mower - Steering wheel and steering components - Brake pedal - Rear Axle Tires and Brakes still need to be worked out, but we have until May 2011 to do it, so I don't think it will be a problem. Update 8/9/2011 The Soapbax car doesn't look like its getting entered in Underground racing but its geting plenty of usage running down Fardas 7/10ths of a mile driveway lnto open traffic on Rt. 715. |
